Cauliflower. If only I could take my Grandmother back in time and have her read me the recipes. Just as the word implies “Cauliflower”, it does not mention anything about a cream sauce. Once I figured out how to make this recipe; it was obvious. Funny how there is very clear German directions on how to steam the cauliflower; but no directions on the makings of the sauce. I made the sauce twice, we won’t talk about the first time \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

The recipe indicates you should cut up your raw cauliflower before steaming. A nice way to serve cauliflower is to keep it in tact & steam the whole thing at once. Place in bowl and then pour the sauce overtop!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This sauce takes boring cauliflower and makes it delicious and ready to serve guests! I think next time I may add a sprig of parsley or a few shreds of marble cheese on top; just to add colour. No flavour additions are needed though, it tastes soo good. We ate a whole head of cauliflower just my husband and I.<\/p>\n

Cauliflower with Cream Sauce<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • 1 Head of Cauliflower<\/li>\n
  • 1 litre of water<\/li>\n
  • Pinch of Salt<\/li>\n
  • 1 tablespoon fat (butter\/oil)<\/li>\n
  • 1-2 tablespoons flour<\/li>\n
  • 2 cups chicken broth<\/li>\n
  • 1 egg yolk (optional)<\/li>\n
  • Pinch of Nutmeg & Salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Directions<\/p>\n

    1. Break apart cauliflower and put in salt water, Cook the cauliflower.
      \n(Steaming the cauliflower is also an option – and the cauliflower can be cooked\u00a0whole or broken apart)<\/em><\/li>\n
    2. Melt Fat in medium sauce pan, and add chicken broth.<\/li>\n
    3. Stir to a rolling boil; then slowly add flour, whisking to avoid any clumps.<\/li>\n
    4. Return to a boil and stir frequently until thickened.<\/li>\n
    5. Add egg yolk; stirring often for about 1 minute. (optional)<\/li>\n
    6. Put cauliflower in serving tray; pour cream sauce on top. \u00a0Sprinkle with salt & nutmeg.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n
